I am thankful for my A-Z as I travel about the borough getting to know new places. The first session was a lovely group – black and ethnic minorities women from many countries including Morocco, Palestine, Algeria, India Nigeria and Pakistan. As ever talk conversation flowed, someone said the sewing reminded her of giving birth and having to have stitches! Five young children accompanying their mum’s, meant the session was involved cuddling babies as well as sewing.
Session two was collecting signatures at Middleton Arena. It turned out there was also a rehearsal for a children’s performance, so I had the bizarre scenario of being surrounded by masses of (mostly) young girls in full costume and make up and their mum’s, none very keen on donating their signatures. As a contrast also in the entrance was a book of condolensces, collecting signatures in memory of Drummer Lee Ribgy, who was hacked down in South London recently.
